Dr. Thullen’s NLP Lab
At Dr. Thullen Data Science Lab, our Natural Language Processing (NLP) Lab is dedicated to advancing research in natural language processing, unstructured data analysis, and text mining.
We focus on developing innovative solutions that extract meaning, patterns, and insights from human language.
Our work bridges academic research and real-world applications—enhancing communication, decision-making, and data-driven solutions through language technology.

Our Research Areas Include:

Sentiment Analysis

We develop and optimize models that analyze subjective information in text—identifying emotions, opinions, and attitudes from customer reviews, social media, and other content.

Topic Classification

Our team builds algorithms to automatically categorize documents, emails, and online content into relevant topics, helping businesses and organizations make sense of large-scale text data.

Named Entity Recognition (NER) & Knowledge Extraction

We develop domain-specific NER systems that identify and classify names, locations, dates, organizations, and custom entities from large text corpora. Our research supports tasks such as information retrieval, compliance automation, and building structured knowledge graphs from unstructured data.

Language Model Tuning

We experiment with fine-tuning and customizing large language models (LLMs) like GPT and BERT for domain-specific applications. Our research helps adapt state-of-the-art models to better serve targeted user needs.

Our NLP Lab continues to expand our research into areas like Conversational AI & Chatbot Design, Domain-Specific Language Modeling, and multilingual processing—based on current challenges and community interest.
